Eli Landsem

Eli Landsem (born March 22, 1962 in Rindal ( Møre og Romsdal Province , Western Norway)) is a Norwegian football coach and former player. She coached the Norwegian women's national football team from 2009 to 2012 .

Player career

Eli Landsem used to play for the soccer clubs Orkdal, Idrettsklubben Rindals-Troll and Asker Sportklubb . With Asker she was cup winner in 1990 and 1991; in both finals she scored one goal each. In addition, she became national champion with Asker in 1989 and 1991. For the Norwegian national team, she played her first game in 1979 as a 17-year-old. In total, she played in 15 international matches; she scored a goal.

Coaching career

After the end of her career as a player, she became a coach for Asker SK and later for the clubs Lørenskog IF , Rælingen FK (men's team), Idrettsklubben Rindals Troll and the Danish club Fortuna Hjørring . With Asker, she reached the Norwegian championship in 1998 and 1999 and won the cup in 2000. After her time in Denmark she was again a trainer at Asker SK in December 2005. In October 2009 she succeeded Bjarne Berntsen as coach of the Norwegian women's national team. She is the first woman in this position. Regarding her calling, she said: “This is a great and exciting challenge. It is an honor to be entrusted with this important job.
