Elijah Salomon (born August 20, 1986 , Zurich ; real name is Elia Gunnar Salomon ) is a reggae singer, songwriter and producer from Zurich. His texts are partly in Swiss German and partly in English. He is a multi-instrumentalist and plays guitar, flute and percussion. In 2013 he founded his own label One Camp. Elijah Salomon produces a large part of his music in his studio in Zurich-Affoltern. He is a founding member of The Dubby Conquerors and the One Camp Crew.

history

Elijah first drew attention to himself when he took part in the Swiss Singjay Contest in 2005 and came in second. After that he was able to perform in front of 5000 people at the international reggae festival Rototom Sunsplash (Italy). Elijah released his debut album Mov Di in 2007 . In the following two years he played around 200 concerts all over Europe with the band The Dubby Conquerors. In 2008 he won the European Reggae Contest . As part of the subsequent festival - tour , he appeared well-known festivals like the Reggae Jam , the Reggae Sun Ska ( France ), the Sundance Festival ( Netherlands ) or the Foundation Festival ( Spain on). Elijah counts Bob Marley , Linton Kwesi Johnson , The Wailers , Lucio Battisti and Miriam Makeba among his influences. In 2009 he produced the sampler Naturality Selection with a total of 11 riddim pieces by various artists.

The second official album Eat Ripe Fruit followed in 2014 on his own label 'One Camp'. The album was recorded in Bob Marley 's Tuff Gong Studio in Kingston Jamaica , among others . In 2016 he was the first Swiss artist to release a complete Dub Remix album with Dub Ripe Fruit . Dub Ripe Fruit was mixed by Joe Ariwa and recorded by the Jamaican band Raging Fyah . It was released on Mad Professors label Ariwa Sounds in Great Britain. In 2018 he produced the song Ask My Granny for the Jamaican artist Queen Ifrica . The song was on the Billboard and the Jamaican charts for several weeks . In 2019 he released the dialect EP Herz Vomene Loi . In the accompanying video clip, his son Alessio Amadou Salomon also appears for the first time. Eijah's song Nie Usenand Gah was recorded by the FC Zurich fan curve and released as a limited vinyl single on One Camp in 2019.
