Eliot Field
Eliot Feld (born July 5, 1942 in New York City ) is an American ballet dancer and choreographer.
Life
Eliot Field attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York and later studied at the School of American Ballet and the New Dance Group .
At the age of 12 he was with the New York City Ballet as the young prince in George Balanchine's performance of the Nutcracker and in the musical Sandhog at the Phoenix Theater. He also supported the companies of Mary Anthony, Pearl Lang, Sophie Maslow and Donald McKayle as well as the Little Orchestra Society in The Voice of Firestone and L'Enfant et les Sortileges . At the age of 16 he was part of the Broadway production of the West Side Story and played the supporting role of "Baby John" in the film version . He was also seen on television in the television shows of Garry Moore and Ed Sullivan . Other Broadway performances included I Can Get It For You Wholesale and Fiddler on the Roof . There were also other engagements with the American Ballet Theater , the American Ballet Company and the Field Ballets in New York.
Since 1967 Feld has choreographed a total of 133 ballets. He did choreographic work with and for: American Ballet Company (ABC), American Ballet Theater , Atlanta Ballet, Mikhail Baryshnikov , Boston Ballet, Feld Ballets / NY, The Joffrey Ballet, John Curry Skating Company, London Festival Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, New York City Ballet , The New York City Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, The Royal Swedish Ballet, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the San Francisco Ballet .
Feld founded the Ballet Tech Company and School (formerly Feld Ballets / NY and the affiliated New Ballet School ), Kids Dance , and the New York City Public School for Dance .
Awards
Eliot Feld has received a large number of awards and honors, including The John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship (1969), the Dance Magazine Award (1990), and an honorary doctorate from Juilliard (1991).
