Elisa Cegani (born June 10, 1911 in Turin , † February 23, 1996 in Rome ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Cegani's parents Arturo and Maria come from Venice; she herself stayed for a long time in France , Great Britain and Austria to learn the languages . In 1935, she was introduced to the author Ernesto Quadrone in her hometown , whose novel Mudundu was to be filmed by Carl Theodor Dreyer . He suggested her to act, and Cegani was awarded a contract. When Dreyer withdrew from the project, she did the same. As Elisa Sandri , she made her debut in Aldebaran that same year after Alessandro Blasetti noticed her during one of her stays in Rome and in whose films she - soon married to him - was almost always to be seen; not many, but mostly well-chosen roles in works by Mario Camerini , Goffredo Alessandrini , Amleto Palermi and others followed until the end of the war in 1945 , so that she is considered one of the divas of the Telefoni Bianchi films. Shortly thereafter, the serious, intelligent, sensitive, sober actress portrayed the Mimin Eleonora Duse in the biography film of the same name. Until her retirement in 1982, Cegani managed to make her film selection, mostly with luck; She demonstrated her versatility in numerous supporting roles.

Her theater career, on the other hand, was short: in 1945 Cegani played at the “Teatro delle Arti” of the Italian capital in Die Zeit und die Conways and Ma non è una cosa seria (in which she had already played in 1937), both under Blasetti's direction as in 1947 Der petrified forest . For television she appeared occasionally from 1958 onwards, in theater films as well as in original material; Particularly noteworthy are some works by Silverio Blasi , her husband Blasetti and the mini-series Luisa Sanfelice (1966).

Cegani was awarded a Silver Ribbon for Best Supporting Actress in 1954 for her role in Tempi Nostri .
