Elisabeth Ohlhoff

Elisabeth Ohlhoff (born September 15, 1884 in Burg near Magdeburg , † May 28, 1954 in Berlin ) was a German singer ( soprano ).

Life

She was a student of Valerie von Facius and Elka Gerster . She dedicated her singing career, which began in 1907, exclusively to concert singing. Concert tours brought her to the major German, Dutch, Belgian, British and Russian music centers. Her tours also went to Scandinavia, the Baltic countries and Turkey.

In 1934 she gave her last recitals in Berlin. She was considered an excellent song interpreter , but became widely known for her performance of soprano roles in oratorios and religious musical works. Above all, their design of the works of JS Bach ( St. Matthew Passion ) was valued .
