Elisabeth Plattner , née Dietrich, (born July 9, 1899 in Stuttgart ; † December 26, 1994 ) was a German educator , writer and representative of individual psychology .

Life

Elisabeth Plattner attended the Humanist Girls ' High School founded in 1899 (today Hölderlin High School ) in Stuttgart. She studied mathematics and physics in Stuttgart, Tübingen and Geneva and graduated with the state examination for higher education. She moved to Berlin , where she taught at various private schools. After her marriage in 1924, she lived in Japan for a few years , where she taught at German schools in Tokyo .

After her return to Germany, she worked in various areas of education: mother's courses, first publications, interpreting, radio broadcasts on education. In the language school she founded, she conducted language courses. After her children grew up, she returned to the school service, where she worked until 1963. She worked as a study assessor in Stuttgart- Degerloch . The Wuerttemberg school authorities approved a school trial, which they could use to put their experiences into practice. From 1965 she studied at a grammar school how one could help talented but failed students to succeed.

In numerous books Plattner dealt with tried and tested ways of nonviolent, leadership-strong education. In easy-to-understand language, she showed the development of young people from infancy to the beginning of their career. She used experience reports from family, school and professional life as well as results from depth psychology . Elisabeth Plattner worked on the standard work, Pedagogical-Psychological Practice in Higher Schools, published by K. Strunz .

Many believe that“ far too much is being brought up ”; they "prefer not to raise their children at all". Is that possible? - Every word, every action, be it while getting dressed, doing housework, in earnest and jokingly, everything that a child hears or sees from us during the day has an effect on mental development. Our role model works - good or bad: it does more than we suspect. Our little ones learn initially only through imitation, not through words - not even through conscious "attempts at education"! (...) Because every child is a special child and every moment brings something new to the daily dealings with children, “recipes” cannot help us in individual cases, often even harm. "

- Elisabeth Plattner

For Wolfgang Metzger , Elisabeth Plattner belongs to Alfred Adler , Fritz Künkel , Rudolf Dreikurs and Alfons Simon as one of the representatives of the practical educational theory of individual psychology, whose literature has existed since 1904 and which he is the first among the pedagogical approaches that it (...) direction which gives free dynamic order and goal achievement.
