Elisabeth Schulz-Semrau , b. Appe , (born July 14, 1931 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † September 10, 2015 in Berlin ) was a German writer .

Live and act

Elisabeth Schulz-Semrau is the daughter of a civil servant who was almost 60 years old when she was born. Her mother died of a serious illness in 1947. In Königsberg she attended a denominational elementary school for four years and the Lyceum for three years until she and her parents had to flee to Tangermünde in the Altmark in 1945 . There she left high school without a degree and studied from 1948 to 1949 at the Ludwigsfelde Teacher Training Institute . From November 1949 to 1967 she worked as a teacher in Rangsdorf , mainly for the subject German and passed the 1st and 2nd teacher exams in distance learning at the Potsdam University of Education . As the leader of the Dramatic Circle, she got young people, but also adults of all ages, enthusiastic about acting. She published poetry and participated in poetic competitions and events. From 1967 to 1970 she studied at the "Johannes R. Becher" literature institute in Leipzig . She then worked as a freelancer for two years. From 1972 to 1986 she taught prose at the Institute of Literature and was a lecturer. From 1986 to 1990 she took a four-year leave of absence from university in order to be able to work as a freelancer again.

She received the promotion award of the Mitteldeutscher Verlag and the art award of the city of Leipzig .

Elisabeth Schulz-Semrau was married to the writer Max Walter Schulz for the second time and has two sons. She lived in Berlin.
