Elisabeth Wacker

Elisabeth Wacker (* 1954 ) is a German scientist and has held the Chair of Diversity Sociology (W3) at the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) since 2013 .

Career

Elisabeth Wacker finished her schooling in 1974 with the Abitur (Humanistic Gymnasium, New Gymnasium Nuremberg ). She studied at the University of Tübingen , among others, theology , (Dipl Theol 1980th.) Philosophy ( Philosophicum 1976) and sociology (doctorate in social sciences |. Dr. rer soc 1989th). From 1982 to 1996 she set up the Central Scientific Facility of the University of Tübingen “Center for Interdisciplinary Research into the World of Disabled People” and took over the scientific management there.

In 1996 she accepted an offer at the Technical University of Dortmund , where she held the chair of rehabilitation sociology (C4) until 2012. She was also intensively involved in academic management bodies and positions (including dean of the Rehabilitation Sciences Faculty 1998–2000 and 2008–2012; Vice-Rector for Research and Young Scientists at the University of Dortmund 2000–2002 and Senator at the University of Dortmund 2006–2008). She was visiting professor at the University of Vienna ( Austria ) in 2008/2009 and in 2011 in Taiwan at the Pingtung National University for Educational Science (NPUE) and the Taipei Municipal University of Education (TMUE). Since January 2013 she has held the W3 professorship of Sociology of Diversity at the Technical University of Munich.

In addition, Elisabeth Wacker has been a Max Planck Fellow since 2010 . From 2010–2015 she headed the specialist group “Change in Social Systems and Participation in the Disabled. Structures, measures and effects of prevention, rehabilitation and health development ”at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich and the follow-up program“ Dis [cover] ability & indicators for inclusion ”(2015–2020).

Besides her work in numerous advisory boards and review panels (at national and international universities, for federal and countries as well as numerous social institutions and organizations) is since 2011 chairman of the Scientific Committee on the report of the Federal Government on the living conditions of people with disabilities (Federal participation report).

Elisabeth Wacker's main research areas were a. Humanization of working life in institutions for the disabled, possibilities and limits of independent living with disabilities, personal support and quality of life, personal budget and competent aging with disabilities. She is currently researching with a focus on health and society, diversity and inclusion , prevention and resource-oriented rehabilitation as well as life situations with impairment, community care , participation and reference to the environment (national and international).
