Elisabetta Grimani

Elisabetta Grimani (* 1731 ; † August 31, 1792 in Treviso ) was the wife of Doge Ludovico Manin and was the last woman to be the Dogaressa of Venice .

Life

Elisabetta Grimani was born as the daughter of Giannantonio Grimani (from the line, the Servi branch) from the patrician family Grimani . Elisabetta Grimani married on September 14 or 23, 1748 in the church of Santa Maria della Salute Ludovico Manin, who became Doge of Venice in 1789. The marriage remained childless.

According to contemporary reports, she died in Treviso in 1792 of a nervous disease that impaired her mental health. She was the last person to receive a Venetian state funeral. She was buried in the church of Santa Maria di Nazareth , where her husband was also buried in 1802.
