Elisha Abas ( Hebrew אלישע אבס, Born December 10, 1971 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli pianist.

Life

At the age of four he studied at the Jerusalem Conservatory of Music with Ester Medvetsky . Until December 2006 he was also tutored by Pnina Salzman .

Already at the age of nine he impressed his audience with his extraordinary game and was considered an absolute exceptional talent. Even greats in the music world like Arthur Rubinstein and Zubin Mehta were enthusiastic.

He won first prize in the American-Israel Cultural Foundation Music Competition and first prize in the Claremont Piano Competition for eight consecutive years . At the age of 11 he played with Leonard Bernstein in Carnegie Hall and also in the Royal Albert Hall and gave private concerts for Jitzchak Nawon and the exiled queen of Italy, Maria Jose di Savoia . But at the age of 14 he gave up his pianist career for the time being after a burnout . Since he did not have a school leaving certificate, he made up for it and successfully completed a law degree at Sha'arei Mishpat University near Tel Aviv . Abas also turned increasingly to his hobby football and eventually became a professional player who played for teams such as Maccabi Akhi Nazareth FC, among others.

In 2004 he began performing again in public.

The Israeli broadcaster YES Television produced a documentary about his life.
