Elizabeth Roemer

Elizabeth Roemer (1963)

Elizabeth Roemer ( September 4, 1929 - April 8, 2016 ) was an American astronomer and professor emeritus at the University of Arizona in Tucson .

Roemer received his PhD in astronomy from the University of California at Berkeley in 1955 . She was particularly interested in comets and asteroids , dealing with both astrometry and the physical properties of small celestial bodies.

She discovered the Jupiter moon Themisto and the asteroids (1930) Lucifer and (1983) Bok .

The asteroid (1657) Roemera is named after her.
