Eljot Quent is a German-speaking hip-hop music group from Hamburg , consisting of the two MCs Len and Müwie, DJ Fogel and drummer Mike Ferguson.
history
Eljot Quent was founded in autumn 2009 and first drew public attention in February 2010 with her video flyer. This was followed by various appearances in Hamburg, including in the opening act for the US hip-hop groups Ugly Duckling and Jungle Brothers . With the release of the first single “Derbe drauf”, the first major concerts and festival appearances also followed outside of the Hanseatic city, including at Red Bull Crashed Ice 2011 in Munich's Olympiapark in front of around 25,000 spectators or on the main stage at the Dockville Festival.
In May 2011 the limited EP “Hauptsache knallt” was released, on which Eljot Quent presented a collection of debut works that, according to the group, would not have fit into the concept of an album. At this point in time the music was sometimes much more electronic than in later publications.
In the winter of 2011, work began on the album "Alles Auf Anfang", which celebrated its debut on April 13, 2012 after the release of the single "Urlaub im Kopf" and guests such as Das Bo ( Five Star Deluxe ) and Afrika Baby Bam ( Jungle Brothers ) featured. The productions on the long player are all sample-based and deal with everyday life in a mostly positive way. In March 2013 Eljot Quent released the single "Bin halt so" and then began work on the second album "Batman is dead". This was released on May 16, 2014 again on the independent label "Birds Avenue Music". The productions still have a sample-heavy sound, but most of them were recorded by themselves. Thematically, the album, with its sometimes snotty attitude, is largely more critical and thought-out than previous releases. Guests like Captain Gips ( neon black ), Giu and Lisa appear on the release.
In the summer of 2014 Eljot Quent was hired as tour support for the Australian Hilltop Hoods and played their first international concert on July 16 in Melkweg in Amsterdam, NL.
Since the end of 2014, the group has been increasingly supported live by Mike "Fergie" Ferguson on drums. This has been an integral part of the band since summer 2015.
After Eljot Quent opened the concert in Hamburg's Uebel & Hazardous as a support act in December 2014 , they also accompanied the Swedish loop troop Rockers as tour support in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in February 2015 .
In summer 2015 she performed at the Out4Fame Festival and Hurricane Festival, among others .
Band name
The band name (Eljot) is made up of the civil initials of the three founders. Eljot Quent is a derivative of eloquent, eloquence.
style
Eljot Quent does German-language hip-hop, which is often compared with the old Hamburg school, especially in the media. In an interview in 2012, Falk Schacht described the style as “True School”. The productions of the experimental trio are largely organic, partly recorded live, partly sample-based and inspired by a wide variety of genres. In terms of content, the group is largely concerned with different topics from everyday life, often in a humorous way.
