Five star deluxe (FSd) is a German hip-hop - group consisting of the rappers Das Bo , Tobi Tobsen , the designer marcnesium and DJ Cool man is.
history
The Bo (Mirko Bogojevic) and Tobi Tobsen (Tobias Schmidt) released the album “Genie and Wahnsinn lie close together” as early as the mid-1990s as Der Tobi & das Bo, as well as the accompanying singles “Der Racka” and “Morgen geht die Bombe high". This album was followed by another publication called “Genie & Wahnsinn… (We are the Best Ofs)” with the singles “Is' mir don't care” and “We are the best”. In the middle of 1997, the two rappers joined forces with magnesium (Marc Clausen), who also appeared together with DJ Koze as Adolf Noise , and DJ Coolmann (Mario Cullmann) to form five stars deluxe. Tobi was previously a member of the English-speaking Hamburg hip-hop crew Poets of Peeze and, with his brother Oli, was part of the original line-up of Fettes Brot . Marcadium is a qualified communications designer, photographer and artworker. He takes care of the visual appearance of the group, participates in the production and partly writes on the texts. He operates a sampler live with special effects and supports the two rappers with snippets of speech, which he changes in sound via a connected vocoder .
In 1998 the first album SiLLiUM with the singles 5 stars deluxe , Willst Du mit mir gehtn? and your heart beats faster . Both the album and the releases made it into the sales charts. To date, SiLLiUM has sold over 150,000 times. At the time, the lyrics of Fünf Sterne deluxe were considered humorous, which is why they were just as controversial among many members of the hip-hop scene as those of the previous combo Der Tobi & Das Bo .
In 1999 the single Ja, ja, .. Deine Mudder appeared . Subsequently, Das Bo released an EP in 2000 called naturally, of course, for sure Dicker / Nur der Zorn Counts . This EP was released almost at the same time as the second single from Five Star Deluxe called Die Leude and became a commercial success. Of course, of course , Das Bo sold over 240,000 units that made it socially acceptable in the mainstream and was much more successful than the five-star releases of the year. At the end of 1999 the second five-star deluxe album Neo.Now was released . In contrast to the production of SiLLiUM , Fünf Sterne deluxe retired to a house on the Baltic Sea for three months for this release. Critics were of the opinion that you can hear that from the album. Others loved the powerful production. Neo.Now has sold over 120,000 units to date, but has not been able to build on the success of SiLLiUM in terms of effectiveness . Other groups with a much harder sound and lyrics gained in importance. The third single release (2000) Stop Talking Bull of Discotizers with European radio group Supermax was despite consuming production and matching cartoon video only moderate attention. "The fans probably didn't understand us anymore ... actually Neo.Now should be called again three years too early ," said FSd in an interview. At the end of 2000, a fan club CD (500 copies) was released under the title Alles muss raus - die tenacious mush from three years of brain research with 28 tracks, which was sold together with a five-star deluxe skateboard. It contains numerous unpublished pieces, remixes and sound experiments as well as interview excerpts.
In 2004, after DJ Coolmann left the company, five stars deluxe released the EP Wir sind im Haus . In the summer of the same year they played again at the large open-air festivals and, among other things, appeared for the second time since 2001 at the more rock-oriented Hurricane Festival . The planned third album was no longer released.
In August 2013, the group performed as part of the Hamburg cultural summer at the “Beats auf der Bahn” festival on August 28th on the grounds of the trotting track in Hamburg.
During an appearance during the Reeperbahn Festival 2015, it became known that the group had signed a new recording contract and that the release of the third studio album was planned for 2016.
This was finally published on October 6, 2017 under the name "Flash". Since then, Marcadium has not performed live anymore. In his place, rapper, singer and DJ Luis Baltes has been a permanent member of the group since 2018.
Solo careers
In addition to five stars deluxe , DJ Coolmann worked on his own label Hong Kong Recordings, on which the Doppelkopf group was under contract. He also released two albums under the name Visit Venus with Mario von Hacht (then Soundmischer von Fettes Brot u.a./Container Studio): Music for Space Tourism Vol. 1 (1995) and The endless bummer (1998).
After a creative break in 2004, Das Bo released his solo album Best of III - Alone with the singles Be you ready for Das Bo and Ich hab Rap für Dich . The publications were not very successful commercially. The Bo separated from the Yo Mama label , which after financial difficulties and the associated takeover (2003) by Four Music / Berlin finally gave up after the end of FSd 2005. In 2005 Das Bo went on tour with Deichkind and took the singles as a guest. How cool is that? with Jansen & Kowalski and Ey Yo with DJ Tomekk. On the Samy Deluxe So deluxe, so glorious mixtape he settles accounts on a track with his old record company. In 2008 his second album was released, Dumm aber schlau , whose singles were able to establish themselves in the charts without Bo and Dumm aber schlau .
Tobi Tobsen released his first album with koweSix as the electronic project moonbootica in 2005 , after various singles and remixes had preceded it, which received great attention in the electronic scene and showed his old passion for instrumental and club productions. moonbootica is now a popular DJ duo. Already during the FSd time (since 2001) the two organized their own “moonbootica” parties in Hamburg. Over the years, these have developed into Hamburg's most famous electronic event with up to 3000 guests.
As a communication designer , marcodium looks after visual and a. DJ Kozes label Pampa Records as well as other musicians and companies. In addition, he lectures communication design at the Ruhr Academy .
