Elke Hopfe (born April 3, 1945 in Limbach ) is a German graphic artist .

Life

Elke Hopfe studied after training as a merchandising designer 1965 to 1970 at the Academy of Fine Arts Dresden (HfBK) at Günter Horlbeck and Gerhard Kettner . From 1971 to 1977 she worked as a freelancer in Dresden . From 1976 to 1979 she was a master class student with Gerhard Kettner.

From 1977 to 1989 she worked as a freelancer in Gera . In 1988 she began teaching at the Dresden University of Fine Arts, where she was professor for graphics from 1992 to 2010. Elke Hopfe is represented by the Beyer Gallery in Dresden.

Works by Hopfe can be found in the Herzog Anton Ulrich-Museum Braunschweig, in the Brandenburgische Kunstsammlungen Cottbus , the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden , in the Dresden Kupferstichkabinett , in the Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig , in the Museum of Young Art in Frankfurt (Oder) , in the Gera art collection, in the Angermuseum Erfurt and in the art collection Neubrandenburg .

Elke Hopfe ended her official teaching position at the HfBK in 2010 with a large exhibition in the octagon of the university building . In the same year she received the art prize of the state capital Dresden .
