Elke Seidel (born January 27, 1948 in Beelitz ) is a German politician ( SPD , B'90 / Greens ).

Life and work

Seidel studied medicine from 1967 to 1973 at the Humboldt University in Berlin and at the Medical Academy in Dresden . From 1973 she worked as a ward doctor at the specialist clinic for lung diseases and tuberculosis in Beelitz-Heilstätten . Seidel received her doctorate in 1982. From 1983 to 1988 she was head of the polyclinical department for lung diseases and tuberculosis in Potsdam-Stadt, then until 1994 again as a ward doctor at the lung clinic in Beelitz. Seidel lives in Beelitz, is married and has one child.

Seidel has been the turning point in the GDR politically active in 1989, they first became involved in the new forum , then between 1990 and 2003 in the SPD. At the end of 2003 she switched to the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party. In 1990 she became a city ​​councilor , from 1993 to 1994 she was a district councilor . In the state elections in Brandenburg in 1994 she was elected as a candidate on the list of the SPD in the Brandenburg state parliament. She was a member of parliament from October 11, 1994 to September 29, 1999. In the state parliament, she was chair of the committee for the environment, nature conservation and regional planning.

Shortly after the local elections in 2003, Seidel switched to the Greens and retained the mandate she had previously won as an SPD candidate in the Beelitz city council. In the 2004 state elections , she ran for the first time for the Greens, but as a direct candidate in constituency 18 ( Potsdam-Mittelmark II ), as well as in the subsequent election in 2009, she did not make it into the state parliament. In the local elections in 2008 she was re-elected as city councilor in Beelitz, as well as in the district council of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district .
