Elke Doris Drüll

Elke Doris Drüll (born April 1, 1956 in Neuss , after marriage to Sprink ) is a former German hockey player and Olympic participant in 1984.

Career

The woman from Neuss began her career at Schwarz-Weiß Neuss ; In 1979 she moved to Club Raffelberg in Duisburg and in 1981 to HTC Blau-Weiss in Cologne . With the Cologne team she took second place three times in a row at the German Field Hockey Championship from 1981 to 1983, and in 1982 and 1984 she came second in the hall. After the 1984 indoor season, she moved back to her parent club Schwarz-Weiß Neuss . The full-back was the only regional league player in the 1984 Olympic squad.

Elke Drüll made her debut in 1979 in the German national hockey team . After winning the European Indoor Championships in 1981, she was part of the German squad at the World Field Hockey Championships in Buenos Aires that same year, which won the second German world championship title after 1976. In 1983 she was back at the World Cup and finished fourth with the German team. In May 1984, the first women's field hockey European championship was held in Lille , after a semi-final defeat by the Dutch, the German players won the bronze medal against the British. Two months later, the German team finished second at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, with Elke Doris Drüll only being used in the 2-2 win against Australia. Elke Drüll played a total of 61 international matches from 1979 to 1984, 9 of them indoors.

Today Elke Sprink is responsible for hockey in the Schwarz-Weiß Neuss office. Her daughter Annika Marie made her debut in the national hockey team in 2015 and was part of the German Olympic team in 2016.
