Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen (* 1998 ) is a Norwegian - Sami singer and joiker . She is a member of the band Isák .

Life

Isaksen grew up in the municipality of Tana in northern Norway. Until summer 2018 she was a member of the board of Natur og Ungdom , a Norwegian environmental protection association for young people. In the former province of Finnmark , she was its chairman. In 2016 she won the Sami singing competition Sámi Grand Prix with the song Luoddaearru . Because of this, in April 2017 she was allowed to represent the Sami languages at the Liet International competition , a singing competition for European minority languages. She was also able to win this competition taking place in Kautokeino .

In February 2017 Isaksen founded the band Isák, which she describes as an electrojoik band. The other band members are the producer Daniel Eriksen and the drummer Aleksander Kostopoulos. Isaksen sings in English and Sami in the band. In October 2018 she won the music show Stjernekamp on the Norwegian TV station Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK). In May 2019 she supported an action by Norwegian artists to boycott the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv .

In 2018 she and her band worked with Steve Aoki and Alan Walker on the single (Are You) Lonely . In 2019 her band released their debut album Ealán , which reached number 22 on the Norwegian album charts.
