The Ellerteich is a listed pond in Harzgerode in the district of Stadt Güntersberge in Saxony-Anhalt .
location
The pond is surrounded by forests about two kilometers west of Güntersberge. The Selketalstieg , the Hasenweg and the Selketalbahn pass north of the pond .
Design and history
The Ellerteich was probably created as a mining pond in 1752. Other information cites the beginning of the 18th century as the construction time. The dammed water of the artificial pond served to drive a water wheel. A small stream is dammed up and then flows into the Selke a few meters after the pond . The stone embankment dam on the east side of the pond is more than five meters high and about 70 meters long. The plates made from Haustein made running around has been preserved in the original. There are also remnants of the harrowing system.
The pond has two small islands and has an area of about 5,000 m². There is a bench on the embankment and a resting place at the southern end. Bathing and fishing is prohibited in the Ellerteich.
The pond is considered to be important for technology and local history. In the local register of monuments , the pond is listed as a monument under registration number 094 50013 .
