The Ellhofer Tobel bridge ( westallgäuerisch Ellhofar Doblbruck ) is a standing listed railway bridge the Allgäu web (km 112) which leads via the Ellhofer ravine or the Ellhofer Tobelbach. It is located in the Lindau district (Lake Constance) and touches the communities of Grünenbach (eastern bridgehead) and Weiler-Simmerberg (western bridgehead). It is not far from Heimhofen and Ellhofen . It is a viaduct with three fish-bellied girders on brick pillars and abutments.

history

On November 13, 1850, as part of the construction of the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn, work on the Ellhofer Tobelbrücke began. A wooden bridge construction was placed on brick pillars. The pillars were made of sandstone from the ravine , encased in limestone from quarries from Siebers and Knechtenhofen . The bridge was completed in 1853. The bridge was renewed around 1870/80.
