Heimhofen ( Westallgäuerisch Huimhof e ) is a village in the municipality of Grünenbach in the district of Lindau (Lake Constance) and part of the Westallgäu region .
history
Heimhofen is mentioned for the first time under the name Heminishoba (= Hof des Heimo) in the year 872 in a Sankt Gallen document. Until 1351 Heimhofen was the seat of the knight family of the same name , which then moved to the upper Illertal . The Chapel of St. Maria was built in the middle of the 17th century and consecrated on May 8, 1670 by Georg Sigismund Müller, Bishop of Heliopolis and Auxiliary Bishop of Constance. In 1905 this chapel was demolished and rebuilt on a hill next to the road.
