Elliot Belgrave

Sir Elliot Belgrave GCMG KA (born March 16, 1931 in Boscobel , Barbados ) is a Barbadian judge and politician .

Career

Belgrave graduated from the University of Cambridge (MA) and the University of London (LLB). He was a Attorney General and a judge on the Supreme Court of Judicature . After the resignation of Clifford Husbands , Belgrave took over the post of Governor General of Barbados provisionally from November 1, 2011 to June 1, 2012. On May 22, 2012, he was appointed the seventh Governor General. He took his oath of office on June 1, 2012. He resigned on June 30, 2017. Sir Philip Greaves became the acting Governor General on July 1, 2017.

On June 1, 2012, he was elevated to the personal nobility as the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George . In the same month he was raised to the Order of Barbados as Knight of St Andrew .
