The Ellis Rapids are a fast flowing meltwater river on the Ingrid-Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land during the Antarctic summer months . On the Mule Peninsula, it flows to the head of the Ellis Fjord .
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the fjord of the same name. Its namesake is the American photographer Edwin E. Ellis (* 1924), who was responsible for the aerial photographs of Operation Highjump (1946–1947).
