Elmar F. Baur

Elmar F. Baur (born June 5, 1941 in Augsburg ) is a German entrepreneur .

Life

Baur completed a mechanical engineering degree in Augsburg at the technical college there and then at the Technical University of Munich, also in the field of mechanical engineering. In addition, he graduated from the  Technical University of Munich  as an industrial engineer.

His professional life began with various tasks in the area of ​​controlling and sales at international compressed air technology companies. Management positions followed, as sole managing director or chairman of the management board at CI Caravans (caravans) in Zweibrücken, at Seeger Orbis GmbH (security elements) in Königstein, Isartaler screw compressors in Geretsried and at the Arbau-Deutschland Group in Heidelberg and Memmingen.

In 1989 he was appointed  professor  for production in the industrial engineering department of the  Munich University of Applied Sciences  and worked there until 1991.

In 1991, Baur took over the management of the Burgmann Group (today's EagleBurgmann, an internationally leading seal manufacturer) as sole managing director. When other managing directors joined in 1993 and 2004, he was chairman of the management board of Burgmann Industries GmbH & Co. KG until 2006. He is currently managing director of the consulting firm Baur & Company.

Baur was a member of the executive committee and several times President of the European Sealing Association 1996-2007 and honorary member of the American sister organization FSA. He is Vice President and Treasurer of the Association of the Bavarian Textile and Clothing Industry, as well as a member of committees and commissions of the Munich and Upper Bavaria Chamber of Commerce. He holds supervisory board mandates in German and Italian companies. Baur is a member of the University Council of the  University of Applied Sciences in Munich .

Baur was particularly committed to issues of social justice and at various forums, at symposia and in essays called for a fair distribution of company profits between the stakeholders. Baur is a board member in foundations for the promotion of young people. His activities in the social field also became known through a "role reversal" in which he and his employees worked in social enterprises such as a workshop for the disabled or a monastery, and their employees in Baur's.

Elmar Baur has been married to Maria Baur since 1968, has three sons and lives in  Geretsried .
