Eloísa Cartonera

Eloisa Cartonera is an Argentine publisher based in Buenos Aires . a. is led by the Argentine poets Fabián Casas and Washington Cucurto .

He mainly publishes contemporary and avant-garde Latin American literature, but also books in German and English, mostly in smaller editions. Volunteers are former cartoneros and unemployed people. The pages of the texts are made in a cardboard cover, which the workers design freely and in color. So every book is unique. The text pages are mostly photocopied, but some publications are also produced on a small printing press. The aim of this social project is to help the cartoneros who live on the streets and from whom the cartons are bought. In addition to works by Fabián Casas , who received the Anna Seghers Prize in 2007 , and Cucurto, works by César Aira ,Reinaldo Arenas , Ricardo Piglia , Dani Umpi , by Malaka Dewapriya from Sri Lanka and German authors such as Timo Berger , Nikola Richter , Tom Schulz and Nora Bossong . In 2012 the publisher was awarded the Dutch Prince Claus Prize .
