Timo Berger (born November 13, 1974 in Stuttgart ) is an author , translator and publicist .

Life

Timo Berger studied general and comparative literature , modern German literature and Latin American studies in Tübingen, Buenos Aires and Berlin . He has lived in Berlin since 1999 . He publishes stories, poetry and essays in German and Spanish and works as a journalist and translator from Spanish and Portuguese. His texts have appeared in magazines such as El Diario de Poesía , ndl , louder nobody , Der Poet , Am Erker and um [loud], as well as in anthologies such as Gegen die Kammerjäger der Poesie , Berliner Kneipenbuch , Gänbuchprothesen and Lyrik von Jetzt 2 .

In 2001 he founded the reading stage visch & ferse together with Tilman Rammstedt and Nikola Richter . Up until the end of 2006, a solid group of authors from the off-scene performed there every month: u. a. Monika Rinck and Florian Werner .

Until 2007 Timo Berger organized Salida al Mar - the international festival of contemporary poetry in Buenos Aires and together with Rike Bolte since 2006 the Latinale - the mobile Latin American poetry festival and the web anthology Latin.Log in the online features section satt.org . In 2007 he was also a juror for the award of the Anna Seghers Prize , for which he suggested the Argentine author Fabián Casas .

Since 2007 he has been working as a freelancer for Die Tageszeitung and since 2008 as an editor for the magazine Kulturausch (magazine) .

Translations

He has translated authors from Spanish and Portuguese - u. a. Stories by the Argentine Edgardo Cozarinsky , the novel by the Argentine Pola Oloixarac Kryptozän , volumes of poetry by the Argentines Washington Cucurto , Cecilia Pavón and Sergio Raimondi , as well as the Brazilian Laura Erber and together with Tom Schulz by the Chilean Germán Carrasco . In addition, prose and poetry for the Berlin Poetry Festival , the Latinale and magazines such as Wespennest , edit , ostragehege and poet .

Berger is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ and the Network Free Literature Scene Berlin (nflb).
