Fabián Casas

Fabián Casas (born April 7, 1965 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine poet, writer and journalist .

Career

Fabián Casas is one of the most important representatives of the younger Argentine literature. He writes prose and poetry as well as essays. He earns his living as a sports reporter and journalist. a. for the Buenos Aires daily Clarín . He studied philosophy. At the end of the 1990s he was a member of the editorial collective of the literary magazine 18 Whiskies and published in the underground publisher Ediciones del Diego, founded by Daniel Durand . In 2004, together with the writer Washington Cucurto and the visual artists Javier Barilaro and Fernanda Laguna , he initiated the Eloísa Cartonera publishing house, a publishing house that produces books from recycled cardboard and paper.

He was a guest at numerous poetry festivals in Latin America, in Chile , Peru , in 2006 at the Poetry Festival Medellín , Colombia , and in the same year at the mobile Latin American poetry festival Latinale in Berlin and Munich.

style

Casas' poems are written in a simple, laconic style, which on the one hand takes up the twists and turns and rhythm of the street language of Buenos Aires ( Lunfardo ), and on the other is based on literary models such as the New York School and the Argentine authors Joaquín Giannuzzi and Alberto Girri . The literature of the Beat Generation , as well as contemporaries such as Daniel Durand , Juan Desiderio , Washington Cucurto and Martín Gambarotta also had a recognizable influence . His poems deal with political issues such as the experience of the military dictatorship, the influence of Che Guevara , and pop cultural phenomena such as Star Wars and Pink Floyd .
