Elombo Bolayela (born December 28, 1965 in Léopoldville, today Kinshasa ) is a German politician ( SPD ) of Congolese origin and a member of the Bremen parliament since the 18th electoral term .

biography

Family, education and politics

Bolayela was born the son of a Protestant pastor . He graduated from high school in Kinshasa and started studying business administration there. In 1992 he had to leave the Democratic Republic of the Congo to participate in a demonstration for more democracy and applied for political asylum in Germany. He first lived in Syke , where he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter . In 1999 he became a specialist salesperson in a hardware store. There he has been involved in the works council since 2003 and became deputy chairman of the works council in 2009. He is a member of the ver.di union .

He is also a musically active drummer under the stage name Samuel Bolayela . Since 2002 he has directed the Choir Without Borders e. V.

Bolayela is married and has five children. He lives in Bremen- Gröpelingen .

politics

Bolayela has been a member of the Oslebshausen local association of the SPD since 2009 . Since June 2014 he has been a member of the board of the “Working Group on Migration and Diversity in the SPD's regional organization”.

He was elected to the Bremen parliament in 2011. He ran for position 41 on the list, but benefited from the new right to vote, as he was elected with 3,149 personal votes. In the 19th legislative period of the Bremen Citizenship, he is a member of the Committee for Federal and European Affairs, International Contacts and Development Cooperation, the Committee for Equal Opportunities for Women and the State Deputation for Culture.
