Elsa Grave

Elsa Margareta Grave (born January 17, 1918 in Nyvång (now Åstorp ), Sweden , † June 17, 2003 in Laholm ) was a Swedish poet and playwright .

life and work

Elsa Grave was born as the daughter of an engineer in northern Skåne . She studied art in Paris and with Isaac Grünewald in Stockholm . She earned the Bachelor in Romance languages and literature , art history and Nordic history of religion at the University of Lund .

In her work, Grave transferred impressions, especially from Marc Chagall , into visions and dreams based on painting . Later she dealt with the hunger and suffering of the world. Her subjects were motherhood and the role of women in modern society. Her work was characterized by a dark sense of humor.
