Elsie Carrington

Elsie Carrington - b. Weaver - (born September 29, 1919 in Walthamstow , † March 3, 2015 in Bournemouth ) was an English table tennis player from the 1950s and 1960s. She participated in nine world championships.

Career

It was not until she was 28 that Elsie Carrington began playing table tennis. Under the guidance of Jack Carrington , her future husband, she developed into one of the best English players of the time.

From 1948 to 1965 she took part in nine world championships . Her greatest success was reaching the quarter-finals in doubles in 1950 , otherwise she never came close to medal ranks.

She won two doubles titles at the National English Championships , namely in 1960 with Jean McCree and 1968 with Jackie Billington (née Canham). In 1990 she became senior world champion in singles in the age group over 70.

Private

Elsie Carrington was married to the English table tennis player Jack Carrington .
