Elvin G. Nimrod

Elvin G. Nimrod (born August 27, 1943 in Carriacou ) is a Grenadian politician .

The Hon. Elvin G. Nimrod was Foreign Secretary from 2000 to 2008, responsible for Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Carriacou and Petit Martinique Affairs, and Justice. He was also Attorney General of Grenada . From July 2016 to March 2018 he was foreign minister again.

biography

Nimrod attended Hillsbourough State Primary School and then the Grenada Boys' Secondary School.

He taught at the Mount Pleasant Government School in Carriacou for three years. In the late 1960s he emigrated to the United States , where he continued his academic training at Brooklyn College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. This was followed by a degree in criminal science at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice , which he completed with a Master of Arts , and then a postgraduate degree in law at the New York Law School to obtain a doctorate.

He then practiced privately and then for a few years in the Brooklyn law firm "Nimrod and Tucker". In 1993 he was appointed to the Grenada Supreme Court .

Political offices and functions

His active political engagement began in 1995 and in January 1999 he became a parliamentary member of the New National Party (NNP) for the constituency of Carriacou and Petit Martinique. In February he became minister with responsibility for legal affairs, labor, local government administrative affairs, and Carriacou and Petit Martinique affairs.

In August 2000 Elvin G. Nimrod became Foreign Minister. The international trade division was added later, and since March 2003 the function of Attorney General of Grenada.
