Elza Ibrahimowa ( Azerbaijani : Elza İmaməddin qızı İbrahimova ; born January 10, 1938 in Hacıqabul , † February 11, 2012 in Baku ) was an Azerbaijani composer and popular actress in Azerbaijan and Dagestan .

Life

Elza Ibrahimowa attended the music school in Baku, in 1957 the composition class of the A.Zejnalli music school and in 1964 studied composition at the State Conservatory of Hajibayov Azerbaijan (today's Baku Music Academy).

Create

She composed her first work in 1969. The singer of her work "Yalan ha deyil", based on a text by Mahammad Rahim, was Schöwkat Alakbarowa. The work "Qurban vererdim", composed on the basis of the text by Rafik Zaka, was not received positively by the art council in the Soviet Union. She was one of the first composers to introduce tango rhythms into the Estrada that did not correspond to the Soviet spirit. Later musical works such as “Sən mənə lazımsan” (text Aliaga Kürtschajli), “Bağçadan keçmirsən” (text Alibajli A.) and other works composed in the tango rhythm along with “Qurban vererdim” were among her popular compositions.

In her work she has not limited herself to the Estrada genre, but also a concert for piano and orchestra, works such as “Afət”, “Şeyx Şamil” and “Yanan laylalar” as well as an anthem on the occasion of the 130th anniversary for her diploma thesis written by the Oil Workers of the Azerbaijan Oil Industry.

In the course of her career she has composed a variety of original romances, sonatas and quartets. Her musical work "Ey vətən" in the performance of the singer Rashid Behbudov has represented Azerbaijan musically worldwide. She has also composed the music for hundreds of poems by Azerbaijani poets in Russian.

In 1992 she was awarded the title of "Honored Artist" of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in 2008 the title of "People's Actress" of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

After a long illness she died at the age of 74. The composer was buried in the second cemetery of honor.
