Emanuel Bachrach-Barée

Emanuel Bachrach-Barée (born April 11, 1863 in Oderberg , Silesia, † April 20, 1943 in Munich ) was a German painter and illustrator.

Bachrach-Barée was an autodidact who had worked as a painter and illustrator for German newspapers in Munich since 1885. His Jewish parents were Philipp Bachrach, Müller in Oderberg, and Helene Bachrach, b. Morning star. He married Rosa Bachrach, born on October 12, 1897 in Munich. Hellmuth (born November 29, 1875 in Munich); her two sons Hellmut Hugo (born August 25, 1898), also portrait, animal and landscape painter, and Hans (born September 15, 1900) were both born in Munich. The graves of Emanuel Bachrach-Barée and his son Helmut were in the old part of the Munich forest cemetery and were lifted in 1996.

He drew colorful genre scenes in oil and pastel, exhibited in the years 1890–1893, 1901/02 and 1907 as a member of the Luitpold Group in the Munich Glass Palace , and also in 1891 and 1893 at the International Art Exhibition in Berlin and in 1896 in the Secession Exhibition in Vienna . He worked as a painter into old age, in 1931 and 1932 his pictures were shown in the art exhibitions of the Deutsches Museum in Munich.

In 1897 he drew the picture of female cyclists picnicking for the Allgemeine Illustrierte Zeitung (German Bicycle Museum Bad Brückenau).

Emanuel Bachrach-Barée artistically accompanied the Munich Revolution of 1918/19. In 1919 he created the works Im Dawn and After the assassination attempt on Kurt Eisner (oil on canvas and cardboard, Munich City Museum).

Bachrach-Barée was the father of Hellmut Bachrach-Barée (1898–1964), who was also a portrait, animal and landscape painter.
