life and work

Emanuel Jäcklin-Holzach, son of the Basel carpenter Philipp Jäcklin-Bientz, was accepted into the spinning weather guild in Basel in 1762 . 1789–1798 he was a member of the board of directors (six) and thus the Grand Council of the City of Basel. In addition, from 1785–1799 he was head of the traditional master carpenter.

Emanuel Jäcklin-Holzach is the only carpenter from whom both the masterpiece (today in the Basel Historical Museum ) and the corresponding dimensions are known. In 1767 he made panels, doors and windows in the guild house for house members , but these are no longer preserved.

Emanuel Jäcklin was married to Sara Holzach (1734–1814), daughter of the tailor Johann Conrad Holzach (1712–1766) and niece of the carpenter Eucharius Holzach (1693–1773).
