The Wartburg 313 was a passenger car of the Eisenach Automobile Plant , which was manufactured from 1957 to 1960. This 2 + 2-seater roadster , also known as the Wartburg Sport , was based on the Wartburg 311 .

The Wartburg, with its apparently long bonnet and indicated ventilation slots on the side, stood out clearly from the ordinary Wartburg 311. The vehicle caused a sensation from the outside. At the Imported Car Show in New York in 1958, the Wartburg 313 was named “Most Beautiful European Passenger Car”. Prominent owners were Manfred von Ardenne , Eberhard Cohrs , Otto Grotewohl and Karl-Eduard von Schnitzler . The engine output was increased from the 37 HP of the standard version of the Wartburg 311 to 50 HP, with which the car reached a top speed of 140 km / h.
The Wartburg 313 marks the high point of possible diversity in the Wartburg vehicle range at that time. It was always delivered with a removable hard top , and from 1958 a folding top was also available. The sports car was a real 2-seater as standard. The vehicle was initially manufactured in Eisenach (1957/1958), in 1959 in the bodywork factory in Dresden and again in 1960 in the main Eisenach plant. A total of 469 units were produced, 143 were exported, and eight even to the USA .
