Emanuel Oppliger

Emanuel Oppliger (born June 23, 1975 in Coffs Harbor , New South Wales ) is a former Swiss - Australian professional snowboarder .

Oppliger was born in Australia to a missionary couple and lived in Papua New Guinea for more than 15 years . In 1991 he moved to Switzerland in the canton of Bern , where he still lives with his wife in Frutigen today.

Oppliger was able to qualify for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin with his best career result (6th place at the World Cup race in Whistler Mountain, Canada ) in December 2005 . There he was eliminated in the second round of the parallel giant slalom against his Swiss compatriot Philipp Schoch , who later became Olympic champion.
