Emanuel Schaltegger

Emanuel Schaltegger (born September 2, 1857 in Alterswilen in the canton of Thurgau , † January 4, 1909 in Munich ) was a Swiss landscape and portrait painter .

Born the son of a pastor, Schaltegger trained as a photographer in Zurich for three years and worked as a photographer in Dresden and Vienna .

Schaltegger studied since November 30, 1878 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Franz von Defregger , Gabriel von Hackl and Alexander von Wagner . He then created landscapes and portraits as a freelance artist.
