The Emerald Lake is a crater lake in the south of Deception Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It lies below Mount Irízar .
The from Wales originating geologist Donald Durston Hawkes (* 1934) from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey 1961, a geological mapping in front of the lake. Polish scientists named it in 1999 after its emerald green color.
