Emerik Bernard

Emerik Bernard (born September 22, 1937 in Celje , Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian painter and university professor.

He studied at the Ljubljana Art Academy from 1960 to 1968 . There he taught as a lecturer since 1985 and as an assistant professor for drawing and painting since 1990.

After he had started with collages from waste, he devoted himself to modern landscape painting , which he mainly does in Istria . Bernard's works were exhibited at the 1986 Venice Biennale . In 1997 he received the Prešeren Prize . In 2001 he became an associate member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and in 2007 a full member .
