Emerse Faé (born January 24, 1984 in Nantes , France ) is a former Ivorian football player . He also has a French passport.
Club career
The central midfielder comes from the youth department of FC Nantes . At the club from his hometown he made it into the professional squad in the summer of 2003. In his first season he made 25 appearances in Ligue 1 . For the 2007/08 season, Faé moved to Reading for around £ 2.5m, making him the most expensive player the club has ever signed. For the 2008/09 season, Faé was awarded to OGC Nice .
For the 2009/10 season he was signed by OGC Nice . Faé, who was mainly used in central defensive midfield at Nice, announced his retirement in February 2012. Persistent phlebitis in the legs no longer allowed competitive sports.
National team
In his youth Emerse Faé played for French national teams. Among other things, he was part of the U-17 team that won the 2001 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago .
In 2005, however, Faé decided to play for the Ivorian national team and thus for the home of his parents. At the African Cup of Nations in 2006 he was able to reach the final with the team, which they lost to hosts Egypt . At the African Championships in 2008 and 2010 he was again part of the Ivorian squad.
Emerse Faé was also in the Ivory Coast squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. In this tournament, however, he was not used.
