Emiko Sugi

Emiko Sugi ( Japanese す ぎ 恵 美 子 , Sugi Emiko ; * December 7, 1959 in Yokohama , Japan ; † February 10, 2007 there ) was a Japanese manga artist .

In 1977 she brought out her first publication in a special issue of the manga magazine Shōjo Comic , the short story 12-gatsu no Mystery ( 12 月 の ミ ス テ リeiner , 12-gatsu no misuterī ). For other magazines from Shogakukan that are aimed at teenage girls, such as Cheese! , Petit Comic and Petit Flower - she created numerous manga in her subsequent career as a comic artist. Her first series included Aoi koto shitai ( AOI こ と し た い , 1983–1984), Usagi-chan neru ( USAGI ち ゃ ん ね る , 1985–1986) and Adam to Eve no Hōteishiki ( ア ダ ム と イ ヴ の 方程式 , 1987–1989). Her longest work with a length of around 2300 pages appeared from 1999 to 2003 under the title Get You ( げ っ ち ゅ ー ) in Cheese! . This manga is about seventeen year old Anri , who is dying to lose her virginity to her crush, a popular singer.

Her work has been translated into Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Indonesian. Her 90+ books have sold over eighteen million copies, according to Shogakukan.

Sugi died of stomach cancer in 2007 at the age of 47.
