Emil Botta (born September 15, 1911 in Adjud , † July 24, 1977 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian actor and poet .

life and career

The brother of the essayist Dan Botta studied at the Conservatorul de Arta Dramatica in Bucharest from 1929 to 1932 and then became an actor at the National Theater. In 1939 he made his debut as a film actor in the film Se aprind facliile . From the mid-1950s he played in numerous films, including Sa furat o bombă directed by Ion Popescu Gopo (1961), Pădurea spânzuraților under Liviu Ciulei (1964), Faust XX (1966) and Reconstituirea under Lucian Pintilie (1968).

Botta's first poem Strofa ultima was published in 1929 in the magazine Bilete de papagal . In addition to Mircea Eliade , Emil Cioran , Nicolae Steinhardt u. a. he belonged to the existentialist Grupul Criterion .
