Emil Justitz

Emil Justitz (born May 3, 1878 in Vienna , † December 17, 1932 in Berlin ) was an Austrian actor and film director .

Life

He attended the commercial academy in Vienna and then received singing lessons at the Conservatory of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde . The artist of Jewish origin began as an opera singer in Elberfeld in 1900 , after which he played in Königsberg (1901) and at the Metropoltheater in Berlin (1902).

As early as 1909 he worked in a film, and in 1911 he switched to film directing. In 1917 he returned to Vienna and shot both there and in Budapest . His Beethoven biography The Martyr of His Heart attracted particular attention .

After the First World War, Justitz was also a producer of his films several times. In the mid-1920s he was forgotten, and it was not until 1931 that he was still working as a film production manager for two sound film productions .

His company Emil Justitz Filmvertrieb was listed in the Berlin telephone books until 1940.
