Emil Krause (pianist)

Carl Emil Krause (born July 30, 1840 in Hamburg ; † September 5, 1916 there ) was a German pianist , organist , music critic , music professor and composer .

Live and act

He studied in Leipzig at the Conservatory and from 1857 was a music teacher and writer in Hamburg. In 1864 he was also a concert advisor for the Hamburg foreign newspaper . On May 20, 1869, he wrote an unsuccessful application for the position of organist at St. Petri , Hamburg. In the 1870s there were frequent performances of his compositions, up to 1890 there were 75 operas alone. From 1873 he was a teacher at the von Bernuth Conservatory. In 1885 he was a teacher at the Hamburg Conservatory . In 1906 he became an honorary member of the Hamburg Musicians' Association from 1831. Krause was the editor of editions for piano music. He was married to Emma Johanna Friederica Königs.
