Emil Leo

Emil Leo (born March 14, 1894 in Brno , † April 15, 1974 in Aalen ) was a German architect and lecturer at the German Technical University in Brno .

Life

After attending German schools in Brno, Emil Leo studied architecture at the German Technical University in Brno. In 1921 he graduated with honors and received his doctorate there. He was a research assistant, later an honorary lecturer, and from 1930 to 1945 professor and full professor at the chair for building design, interior design, urban planning and settlement and design in Brno.

Together with his colleagues Heinrich Fanta , Emil Tranquillini and Vinzenz Baier, he was one of the younger generation of architects at the German Technical University in Brno. Leo worked as a town planner from 1938 to 1945 in an advisory capacity for the cities of Iglau, Friedberg, Prerau and Olomouc as well as Brno.

At the end of the Second World War he was expelled from Brno and in 1945 became city director in Aalen. He taught at the TH Stuttgart / University of Stuttgart .
