Emil Tranquillini

Emil Tranquillini (born March 27, 1884 in Vienna ; † November 22, 1955 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian architect and professor and rector of the German Technical University in Brno .

Life

After attending secondary school in Vienna and doing military service, Tranquillini studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology from 1902 to 1907 under Karl König and Max von Ferstel, among others . After study trips to Germany, Belgium, Holland, England, Switzerland and Italy, he was assistant to Max von Ferstel at the Technical University of Vienna from 1909 to 1913 and was awarded a Dr. techn. PhD.

In 1910 he opened his own studio in Vienna. With appointment to the extraordinary professorship for drawing and ornament drawing at the German Technical University in Brno, he moved his studio to Brno . In 1920 he was appointed full professor for medieval architecture, drawing and ornament drawing. From 1920 to 1922 he was dean of the architecture faculty at the TH Brno. In 1929/30 Tranquillini was rector of the Brno University of Technology. Together with his colleagues Heinrich Fanta , Vinzenz Baier and Emil Leo, he was one of the younger generation of architects at the German Technical University in Brno. After the end of the Second World War he moved to Innsbruck .
