Life

Peschkau was the son of a merchant. He completed science and engineering studies and aspired to become a teacher. Since the age of 14 he had to earn his living by giving lessons. In 1877 he found a job as an engineer at the Vienna City Building Office. The following year he switched to journalism and became editor of the Bayerische Volkszeitung in Würzburg . He also worked for the Neue Würzburger Zeitung , the Stuttgarter Neuen Tagblatt and in Frankfurt for the Didaskalia and as an editor of the feature pages of the Frankfurter Journal . He then worked as a freelance writer for a while, until he took over the editing of Schorer's family paper from 1892 . From 1900 to 1905 he was editor of Reclam's universe .

In October 1925, because he believed his wife had a relationship with his son-in-law, he tried to set fire to the villa in Berlin-Lichterfelde. As a result, he was locked in an institution for the mentally ill. At the beginning of 1929 he fled without leaving any traces, which is why his death was assumed.
