Paul Emil Rumpf (born February 24, 1860 in Frankfurt am Main , † November 15, 1948 in Kronberg im Taunus ) was a German painter and illustrator .

Emil Rumpf was the son of the Frankfurt painter Philipp Rumpf . After receiving his first artistic lessons from his father, Rumpf went to the Düsseldorf Art Academy . He later switched to the Karlsruhe Art Academy . In the summer of 1888 he became a private student of Caspar Ritter at the Städel Institute .

Since Rumpf's parents settled in Kronberg im Taunus in 1875, Rumpf - apart from a few trips - had his center of life there too. Having become known with a few painters colleagues, Rumpf soon joined the Kronberg painters' colony .

Emil Rumpf died on November 15, 1948 at the age of 88.
