Emil von Gerliczy
Emil Felix Ludwig von Gerliczy (born August 31, 1871 in Lukovica in Upper Carniola , † May 11, 1924 in Zurich ) was a painter of Slovene descent.
Life
Emil von Gerliczy was born in Wolfsbüchel Castle in Carniola. He served as an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Army until his marriage to Baroness Louise Anna von Korff in 1897. The couple settled in Dresden, and Gerliczy studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden with Robert Sterl . Emil von Gerliczy became a member of the German Association of Artists and the Dresden Artists' Association . In Dresden he worked in the group of young expressionism artists around Conrad Felixmüller , Erich Heckel and Emil Nolde from 1907 . In 1919 he visited Spain, Tunisia, France, Greece, Egypt and Turkey.
