Life

Fallaux began working for the radio station VARA in 1965 and then also for the TV division of the broadcasting corporation VPRO , for the latter he was a reporter in Asia and Africa. Fallaux lived in New York in the 1970s, overseeing documentaries and TV programs as a director and producer. His return to the Netherlands was followed by a new position as final editor at VPRO from 1982 to 1990, where he became well known with video letters from the USA , Nicaragua , Irkutsk and The Hague .

From 1991 to 1996 he was director of the International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Hubert Bals Fund, which supports film productions in developing countries. Subsequently, he was alternately in Amsterdam and the USA and wrote scripts. One of these he finally realized in 2001 as a director of the television film "Liefje".

So far he has held management positions at the Holland Festival , Stimuleringsfonds voor Culturele Omroepproducties , Prins Claus Fonds , Hubert Bals Fonds , Kunsten '92 , Submarinechannel , Sambascope and Holy . He co-founded the Fonds voor Bijzondere Journalistieke Projecten , the Nederlands Fonds voor de Film and the Rotterdams Fonds voor de Film en Audiovisuele Media .

Fallaux took over the editorial management at a time when the circulation had hit rock bottom and his predecessor, Xandra Schutte, no longer had the trust of the editors in the end. The circulation has not fallen since it began, but it has not been able to increase again so far. Fallaux finally handed over the editor-in-chief to Frits van Exter in mid-2008 .
