The EP All the right wrongs can be seen as Emily Osment's debut album. It was released on October 26, 2009 on Wind-Up Records and was produced by Max Collins, Tony Fagenson and Matt Squire. Osment began recording the songs while filming Hannah Montana - The Film in mid-2008. When writing the songs, it was important to Osment that the album did not include teen (Disney) pop, as is the case with most of the singing Disney artists. it goes more towards rock. In addition to Osment, Anthony Fagenson, James Maxwell Collins, Matthew Bair, Tim Pagnotta and Thomas Higgenson co-wrote the songs. The track list includes the six songs All the Way Up (3:10), Average Girl (3:27), Found Out About You (3:25), I Hate the Homecoming Queen (2:48), You Are the Only One (2:57) and What About Me (3:42). Besides the (indie) rock songs All the Way Up and I Hate the Homecoming Queen as well as the mid-tempo pop rock songs Average Girl and You Are the Only One , the rest of the songs are ballads. In the US charts, the EP made it to number 117 on the US Billboard 200 and number 1 on the US Heatseeker Albums. The singles All the Way Up (August 25, 2009) and You Are the Only One (February 27, 2010) were released from the album . | |||||
2010 | Fight or Flight | September 28, 2010 | Wind-Up Records |
The debut studio album Fight or Flight came out in Canada on September 28, 2010 and in the US on October 5, 2010. The album, which is stylistically dance-electro-pop with a slight synthpop / techno touch, was produced by Nellee Hooper and Toby Gad for their label Wind-Up Records. It has received critical acclaim as an improvement on their EP. In addition to Osment, Toby Gad, Lindy Robbins, David Gamson, Shelley Piekens, Adam Schlesinger, Matthew Blair, Ron Aniello, Derek Fuhrmann and Mandi Perkins also co-wrote the songs. These have as lyrical themes love, freedom and the joy of the moment. The track list includes the 11 songs Lovesick (3:25), Get Yer Yah Yah's Out (2:55), 1-800 Clap Your Hands (The Water Is Rising) (3:33), Marisol (4:14), The Cycle (2:30), All the Boys Want (2:18), Double Talk (2:52), Truth or Dare (3:02), Let's Be Friends (3:03), You Get Me Through (3: 46) and Gotta Believe in Something (3:16). Stylistically, the song Let's Be Friends is a bit out of line, as it goes a little more in the direction of Pop · Rock. In addition to her concert tours in North America, Osment went on a promotion tour in Europe for the album in spring and summer 2010, where she was also touring Germany twice for several appearances. On the US Billboard 200 it rose to number 57, on the Billboard Heatseekers albums it landed at number 2 and in the Spain album charts at number 1.
